Crash Alert: Pedestrian dead, 2 drivers hurt in collision in SE Omaha
SOUTHEAST OMAHA, NE – A 63-year-old female pedestrian died, and two drivers were injured as a result of a collision that happened Thursday, WOWT reports.
The events unraveled around 4 p.m. when the driver of a Jeep rear-ended a Chevrolet waiting at a red light at the intersection of South 10th Street and Martha Street. The impact of the collision pushed the Chevrolet forward, causing it to crash into the female pedestrian.
EMS crews rushed the pedestrian and two drivers to Nebraska Medicine. There, the pedestrian died, while the Chevrolet driver was treated for serious injuries, and the Jeep driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Omaha Police confirmed that the pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. Since then, they have identified her as Carra Niverson.
No charges were reported at this time.
