Crash Alert: 1 dead after double big rig collision outside Lincoln
LINCOLN, NE – One person died in a two-big-rig collision that happened just outside Lincoln Tuesday, according to KLKNTV.
The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 77 and Waverly Road. Preliminary details show that one big rig driver, who was driving west, failed to yield to an oncoming 18-wheeler going south and collided with it. The impact of the crash threw the first truck driver from their vehicle and led them to suffer fatal injuries.
Deputies said the second truck driver was uninjured, but did not specify their physical condition.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and transportation crews shut down Highway 77 between Mill and Bluff Roads and Waverly Road between 40th and 70th Street for several hours, and reopened all lanes around 6 p.m.
Additional information, including the identity of the deceased motorist, has not been revealed.
