Crash Alert: Man and dog killed, woman hurt in crash with truck in Valley
VALLEY, NE – A man and a dog died, and a woman was injured in a crash involving a truck Thursday, according to WOWT.
Omaha police said the crash happened before 6:45 a.m. The tractor-trailer driver was attempting to turn left onto Meigs Street from Highway 275 and crashed into an SUV occupied by a man, a woman, and a dog. The SUV was exiting the Highway 275 off-ramp leading to 252 and Meigs Street when it collided with the truck, authorities added.
The SUV driver, later confirmed to be the man, died from his injuries at the scene. The dog, which was found 40 feet away on a leash, was also killed.
Waterloo Fire and Rescue crews were summoned to the scene and extricated the woman who was either entrapped or pinned inside the SUV. EMS crews transported the woman to CHI-Bergan Mercy Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Officials shut down the area for several hours and asked commuters to avoid the area as crews worked to clean up the debris from the wreck.
