Crash Alert: Jeep driver fatally hits male motorcyclist in Hastings
HASTINGS, NE – A male motorcyclist lost his life after he was fatally struck by a Jeep Cherokee near the Adams County Fairgrounds Sunday.
According to KSNBLocal 4, the two-vehicle crash happened after the Jeep driver turned north onto Marian Road from eastbound U.S. 34 and collided with the oncoming motorcyclist, traveling west.
Hastings Fire & Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene. Fire and EMS crews transported the motorcyclist to Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
The motorcyclist was later identified as 58-year-old William Humburg, and the driver as Brenda Willnerd, both Hastings locals. Wilnerd wore a seatbelt and Humburg a helmet.
The sheriff’s office does not suspect that alcohol and impairment were a contributing factor that led to this two-vehicle crash. As of this writing, no citations or arrests have been formally announced.
