Crash alert: Man dies in workplace accident at Madison County poultry operation
LINDSAY, NE – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said a man was killed in a workplace accident on Monday afternoon, according to WOWT and the Associated Press.
The incident occurred at a poultry operation on 544th Avenue northeast of Lindsay, and was reported at about 12:40 p.m. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Bairon Neftali Carreto Perez of Columbus.
Carreto Perez had been involved in helping to transport crates of live chickens that were being moved with a forklift. Investigators determined that when the crates became dislodged and Carreto Perez stepped between the crates and the forklift, he was crushed against the forklift.
Paramedics attempted to perform life-saving measures, but Carreto Perez was pronounced dead after being rushed to a Norfolk hospital.
