Which Apps Can Help You Avoid Collisions? 5 Recommendations from an Omaha Accident Attorney

In a matter of seconds, a serious crash can have life-long consequences. Some victims require weeks or months of rehabilitation; others never make full recoveries. The cost of medical bills and lost wages can lead to overwhelming debt.

Driver errors cause the vast majority of car accidents. Although cell phone use contributes to many wrecks, some apps can actually improve your safety. Examples include:

  1. Cellcontrol;
  2. DriveSafe.ly;
  3. Sprint’s Drive First;
  4. Kyrus Mobile;
  5. And Textecution.

Unfortunately, even the safest drivers cannot control the actions of other road users. If you were injured by a negligent motorist in Nebraska, contact Rensch & Rensch Law.

A personal-injury lawyer in Omaha will gather evidence, interview witnesses, and determine if you have grounds for a claim. We will aggressively represent your interests and fight for the maximum settlement on your behalf.

Our attorneys have more than 45 years of combined legal experience. Call 1-800-471-4100 to schedule a consultation. You can also visit USAttorneys.com to learn more about injury lawsuits in Nebraska.

Here are five apps that can help you avoid collisions:

  1. Cellcontrol

Smartphones are not the only driver distractions. Tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices can draw a driver’s attention long enough to cause a serous collision.

Cellcontrol is an app that disables these gadgets. The technology integrates with the Bluetooth system of your vehicle. It does not rely on GPS or other floating signals to work. Cellcontrol is available for download here.

  1. DriveSafe.ly

There are three types of driver distractions: visual, cognitive, and physical. The most dangerous distractions are those that fall into all three categories.

Texting is a prime example. Although it is best not to use your cell phone behind the wheel, DriveSafe.ly is an app that can read your messages and type your verbal responses. It essentially makes texting and emailing hands-free actions, thus preventing them from being physical and visual distractions.

  1. Sprint’s Drive First

This clever app automatically detects movement and disables your phone’s functionality. It will switch off your screen, direct calls to voicemail, and prevent certain features from working when you reach a specified speed. You can download this app from Sprint’s website.

  1. Kyrus Mobile

Popular among businesses, Kyrus Mobile disables certain cell phone functions while employees are behind the wheel. It stops incoming calls, text messages, and other smartphone distractions.

Like Sprint’s First Drive, Kyrus Mobile activates when the vehicle is in motion. Its features are customizable, allowing you to set speed triggers and other app features.

  1. Textecution

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety claims that cell phones increase the risk of crashing by up to 400 percent. Textecution is a zero-tolerance app that activates when your vehicle reaches 10 mph. It is popular among parents who don’t want their children texting behind the wheel. You can download the app here.

If you were injured by a distracted driver in Nebraska, contact Rensch & Rensch Law. An Omaha accident attorney can protect your interests and guide you through the claims process. Call 1-800-471-4100 to schedule a consultation.
