Good Samaritan Dies After Trying to Help Accident Victim
Omaha.com reports that a man died while trying to help an accident victim. The Omaha man and his three brothers stopped on a bridge when they noticed a crashed car.
Police suspect say he was trying to locate the driver, who they suspected had gone overboard. Instead, 27-year-old Mark Ferguson fell off the bridge and into Stones River below. Local police say it was a tragic case of a Good Samaritan dying in a freak accident. No further information about the driver of the car or his wellbeing was available, and a full investigation is still underway.
Omaha Crash Seriously Injures Two
Omaha.com reports that two people sustained serious injuries in an Omaha car accident. The crash involved two cars and was on 173rd and Q Streets.
According to local police, a Jeep Liberty was travelling in an easterly direction on Q Street in the early afternoon when the driver approached traffic due to another accident further ahead. He took evasive action but lost control of his vehicle. The car crossed the center median and crashed into a small Mazda sedan.
During the investigation into the accident, there was a three-car pileup at the same site. There were no injuries from the second accident; however, local authorities are investigating both to determine the causes.
One of the two victims in the crash was a teenage girl. Emergency workers transported the two to a local hospital for treatment. Both sustained serious life-threatening injuries, and they are still receiving treatment in the hospital.
