After the Accident: Catastrophic Injuries Live On

file0001042901074-thumb-300x200-30848We see graphic video on the news almost every night-rushing ambulances, flashing lights, and chaos. But what happens after an auto accident scene is cleared and traffic returns again to a normal pace?

What about the car crash victims? Lives can be forever impacted. The reality is, some auto accident and motorcycle accident victims never return to a “normal” life. In fact, motor vehicle accidents account for 43 percent of all catastrophic injuries here in the U.S., and most of those involve brain trauma and spinal cord injuries.

“Over the years, we’ve handled too many lasting, lingering catastrophic injuries that forever change a person’s ability to walk, work and maintain healthy relationships, said Omaha accident attorney Richard Rensch.

“Because so many catastrophic injuries are caused by negligent drivers in car wrecks, we all need to be defensive drivers out there on the road. both drivers and passengers should always wear a seat belt without exception,” Rensch continued.

Medical malpractice and medical negligence cases also cause catastrophic injuries to his clients and Rensch said birth injuries and surgical injuries can have permanent effects on the well-being of innocent patients. But auto accidents far outpace any other causes of these serious injuries.

Rensch and his son and partner, attorney Sean Rensch, have a combined 45 years of practicing law in Omaha, protecting the rights of Nebraskans and Iowans who have been injured in catastrophic accidents resulting in spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.

According to the National Spinal Cord Statistical Database, there are 12,000 survivors of spinal cord injuries every year.

“All our catastrophically injured clients try to come to grips with their fate in various ways. Obviously, none are made whole after suffering such devastation. No amount of recovered money can ever replace the damaged lives left behind,” said Rensch.

“But we truly believe we are making a positive difference in the quality of their lives by fighting for their legal rights and costs associated with the unique healthcare catastrophic accident victims require,” Rensch added.

Lifetime healthcare costs for someone with a spinal cord injury classified as severe can range from 2-million to 4-million dollars and up according to the NSCS database.

When someone is seriously injured in an accident caused by the negligence or wrongful actions of another, they are often burdened by significant financial losses trying to manage necessary medical care, but also mental anguish, knowing that their injuries might have been prevented if those liable had only acted more responsibly.

“A catastrophic injury case is a delicate and sensitive case. We get that. We understand the complexities of dealing with accidents that carry lifelong consequences,” said Sean Rensch.

Dick and Sean truly care about their clients’ lives and find satisfaction in seeing them through the legal system.

“We spend a great deal of time listening to our clients, understanding their concerns and using our expertise to help people live full lives by making sure they’re fully compensated for their catastrophic injuries, investigating every possible avenue,” said Sean Rensch.

Rensch and Rensch Law specializes in personal injury accidents, including automobile accidents and motorcycle accidents, workers’ compensation, professional malpractice, which includes medical malpractice and legal malpractice, slip and fall injuries, and catastrophic injuries.
