LINCOLN, NE – Police in Lincoln said a driver died following a single-vehicle accident Sunday morning, according to WOWT.
Investigators said 23-year-old Hortencia Hernandez was driving east on Highway 2 at about 7 a.m. when she tried to merge into the turn lane to go south on 14th Street. Hernandez lost control of her car while negotiating a curve and drove off the road. Her vehicle struck a traffic signal support pole and a railway crossing arm.
Hernandez was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. Police said drugs or alcohol were not believed to have been contributing factors in the wreck, but the investigation is ongoing.
