GIBBON, NE – A truck driver has been sentenced in connection with a crash on Interstate 80 in Buffalo County that killed three people.
According to NTV News, 36-year-old Kenneth Kratt will spend three to five years in prison for the September 20, 2019 wreck after pleading no contest to three counts of felony manslaughter in October.
Investigators said Kratt was driving his Peterbilt semi-trailer on I-80 near the exit for Gibbon when the truck crashed into a number of vehicles that had slowed for traffic in a construction zone. He was driving 75 miles an hour when he hit the first vehicle, according to court records.
The three victims were the driver of a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, 37-year-old Ryan Vanicek of Schuyler, his passenger, 50-year-old Daniel Seelhoff of Lincoln, and an SUV driver, 54-year-old Scott Gaylor of Lincoln. Three other people were injured.
Kratt, a resident of Madera, California, was sentenced in Buffalo County District Court. He received 30 days credit for time already served.
