LINCOLN, NE – A motorcyclist died after crashing into a sport utility vehicle in southwest Lincoln Saturday night, authorities said.
KOLN reports the victim was identified as 28-year-old Jacoby Wilcox of Lincoln. Police said he was being pursued for speeding on Highway 77 shortly after 10 p.m. The Gage County Sheriff’s Office ended the pursuit and notified the Nebraska State Patrol about the situation. Before two NSP troopers were able to make a traffic stop, Wilcox slammed into the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee near Warlick Boulevard.
The troopers attempted measures to save his life, but Wilcox was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old woman who was driving the Grand Cherokee was not injured.
Lincoln Police said they were investigating narcotics and the speed of the motorcycle as potential contributing factors in the crash.
