GRAND ISLAND, NE – According to ABC/NTV, an otherwise peaceful protest almost prevented an emergency vehicle from responding to the scene of a car crash on I-80 on Monday.
The Grand Island Fire Department issued a statement on Tuesday saying that a few individuals walked out and attempted to prevent a responding ambulance (with lights and sirens on) on South Locust Street from responding to a call. The statement was posted on Facebook (see screenshot below), and was supportive of every citizen’s right to free speech, but requested that individuals allow emergency vehicles to pass when necessary.
