Crash alert: Lincoln man arrested in hit-and-run that left motorcyclist injured

LINCOLN, NE – A man is facing charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Lincoln earlier this month, the Lincoln Journal-Star reports.

The incident happened Aug. 6, when a 28-year-old motorcyclist was found seriously injured in the area of 27th Street and Tamarin Ridge Road at about 11 p.m.  A witness reported that the motorcycle and rider had been struck by a dark-colored SUV as both headed north on 27th Street.  The bumper of a Jeep Cherokee was found at the scene.

Last Friday, police spotted a Jeep Cherokee without its front bumper about a half mile from the crash scene. Officers pulled over the driver after he tried to speed away, and determined that his blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit.  Police also concluded the damage to his vehicle linked him to the Aug. 6 crash.

The driver, 44-year-old Tyler Kaulins, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
