Crash Alert: 2 drivers fatally collide with pedestrian near Landon’s
LINCOLN, NE – According to KOLN, an investigation into a fatal auto vs. pedestrian crash that happened near N 27th St and Old Dairy Rd on Feb. 9 revealed that two drivers were involved.
One driver saw Steven Keith, 64, on the road and flashed his lights to warn him of oncoming traffic. Keith made it to the median. The driver then heard a thud. They turned around and found Keith lying on the ground.
Rescue crews treated Keith at the scene and transported him to a hospital in Lincoln, where he died.
Authorities did not charge or cite that driver.
On Feb. 26, Michael Hockman, 41, informed police he was driving in the same area and time as the collision. He told officers he thought he hit some garbage on the road and did not know it was a person.
Hockman turned himself in on Tuesday. Authorities charged him with failure to stop and render aid.
