Crash Alert: 2 children hurt after alleged drunk driver crashes into car in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, NE – A driver was arrested for DUI after she slammed into a parked car in Grand Island while impaired with two children in the backseat without seatbelts on Sunday morning, according to KSNB.
Maresy Eliza Rabanales Estrada, 25, was allegedly drunk when she crashed into a parked car on the 1200 block of West Anna Street early Sunday morning.
A bystander helped a three-year-old and a six-year-old out of Rabanales Estrada’s vehicle. Neither child was wearing a seatbelt, and both had injuries. First responders transported them to an area hospital.
Police attempted to have Rabanales Estrada perform a breathalyzer test, but she blew a false high reading. Authorities ordered a blood test to find out what her BAC was.
Officers arrested Rabanales Estrada on suspicion of child abuse/negligence resulting in an injury, two counts of transportation of a child while intoxicated, two counts of child restraint violations, failure to furnish information after a crash, driving during revocation (first offense), negligent child abuse and driving under the influence (first offense).
