Crash Alert: Driver pleads guilty to deadly hit-and-run crash in Lincoln
LINCOLN, NE – A man pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in Lincoln on February 9, 2024, according to KOLN.
Steven Keith was struck near 27th Street and Old Dairy Road around 7:15 p.m.
First responders transported Keith to an area hospital, where he died.
Investigators determined that two drivers hit the victim.
Michael Hockman, 41, turned himself in to the police weeks after the collision. He told police he thought he had collided with garbage on the roadway and did not know he had hit a person.
Authorities initially charged Hockman with failure to stop and render aid. He pleaded guilty to attempt of a class 3A felony and false reporting.
Hockman will be sentenced on July 22.
