Crash Alert: Alleged drunk driver strikes, kills motorcyclist near Highland Park
OMAHA, NE – A woman alleged to have struck and killed a motorcyclist near 26th St and L Street on March 25 waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday, according to WOWT.
Lorena Lara-Diaz, 38, was driving a Chevy Silverado when she turned left onto the US 75 on-ram and collided with a motorcycle operated by Gary Mangiameli, 45, around 2:20 a.m.
Rescue crews transported Mangiameli to an area hospital, where he died.
Authorities claim to have smelled alcohol on Lara-Diaz, but she refused to take a field sobriety test. They charged her with manslaughter and refusal to submit to a sobriety test.
